To ensure your marriage is recognised by law you can be married by a minister usually in a church or place of worship, you can be married by a civil celebrant in a registry office or by a civil marriage celebrant at a venue of choice.

Many couples decide to get married by a celebrant or in a registry office for a number of reasons; you may not share the same religious beliefs, one or both of you may be divorced or you have no religious beliefs at all.
